Kurgo’s Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness with Steel Nesting Buckles
Kurgo’s Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness has all the features of our standard harness, with the added benefit of Kurgo’s innovative Nesting Buckles. The all-steel Nesting Buckle system is based on the time-tested harnesses of rock climbers and linesmen. The Nesting Buckles take a minute to learn, but are very easy to use. If you make frequent trips in the car with your dog and are looking for a crash-tested harness for him, this is the harness to get.
The harness is quick and easy to put on; simply slip it over your dog’s head and then clip it around the midsection. The five different adjustments provide nearly a custom fit, and the chest pad makes sure that even if Fido misbehaves on the walk or in the car he can be controlled. Available in black or red.
Testing Procedure (View video in 'Videos' tab above):
The Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness with steel Nesting Buckles has been tested in three ways. It has been tensile strength tested, dynamically tested using a static line test and finally crash tested using a sled test. The harness is designed as a safety harness, not a converted walking harness. The design, construction and testing provide the best protection while riding, turning, and stopping and in extreme situations.
The videos below depict a 35lb dog traveling at 30 miles per hour, recorded at an accredited University test facility. The unrestrained black and white dog is for comparison purposes, these are toy dogs weighted for the test - no animals were used in this video. The top video shows the force from the side angle while the bottom video shows the aerial view. Double click to replay the videos.

I am actually planning to return the harness. Because of the metal buckles, which do seem very secure, it's a bit heavy. Also, while the chest strap fits, the neck part doesn't fit. I've adjusted it to as small as it can be, but it's too loose on her.

This is a great harness that actually fits my 135lb Cane Corso pretty well - it's maxed out, but it fits. I bought online because no stores carry the X-L and was worried about the fit, but it's OK. I've had it for a few months now and my dog wears it every time he gets in the truck. It does shift and rotate more than I would like, but it seems incredibly sturdy both in and out of the car. The easy buckles make putting it on and taking it off much easier than other harnesses, since harness means car ride, and car ride means lots of excitement. Overall, very happy with the product and the price.

The front d-ring used to connect a leash broke in the first hour of use. Left two messages for service and got a message both times that my call would be returned in two business days.
Never heard anything back nor do I have time or desire to try a third call.
Rest of the harness is great.
Kurgo Note: We are very sorry to hear about your problem with this harness. This definitely sounds like it qualifies for the Lifetime Warranty program. We apologize for not returning your call promptly. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will take care of this right away.

My dog is still a puppy, just over a year old, and when we used to drive places, he would constantly pace across the back seat and cry while trying to get up front with me. We had a big drive (10 hours!) coming up, and I was worried he would distract me or get hurt if there was an accident, so I looked into this. At first, I ordered the adventure harness, but because my dog is so tall but slender, the large was way too big. Then when I sent it back to exchange for the medium, the medium was way too small. I called Kurgo, and Jo-Ann recommended the tru-fit harness and helped us through the whole process. She was super friendly and helpful and I was really pleased.
My dog loves his harness, and sits nicely to put it on. The front loop makes it easy to train him on the leash, because pulling is uncomfortable. He sits in the car now like a model citizen and almost seems more comfortable knowing he's strapped in. Best of all, I could rest easy knowing he was all set for our road trip! Thanks Kurgo!

These harnesses are just outstanding. Great material, great design, and they do just what they are advertised to do, and do it well ... Love the nesting buckles, and you will too, after a little "break-in" period (for you) while you perfect your technique. Simple and elegant to use. After just a few outings our dogs now get excited when we get the harnesses and raise their heads to put them on. .... We initially thought we would use the harnesses only in the auto, but now we leave them on in on-leash venues (regular or e- collars can be left on while using the harnesses). They are comfortable and unobtrusive and our dogs quickly got used to them .... The harnesses work great with the Zipline/leash and Seatbelt tether, allowing many variations to tailor length, etc. Our dogs now ride in safety and style, and we do, too. The system allows us to give them ample roaming area in our SUV, but not too much. Heading for a vacation with our doggies in the Outer Banks in September; this system is just what we needed, and we just ordered a 2nd Zip. .... The Carabiners are strong, and elegant, too, and add further versatility; the system is VERY cost-worthy; and the Large harness tailors easily to our "rangy" 60 & 65 lb. dogs --- the size descriptions seem right on. Kurgo is a great "find".

The material is very good and sturdy however I purchased the small which fits the weight of my dog she is a 20lbs Chinese Crested Powderpuff but it seems to move on her. The way this harness tightens is a little bit difficult but eventually you get the hang of it. It fits kind of loose. I don't want to tighten it too much because as it is she does not like it although I am treating her to get it on. In addition you can not tighten too much because you need space to put your fingers in when putting the harness on. When I hook her up in the car the harness moves sideways. I do believe it is a good product but I feel that the portion that goes around her belly is not far enough back to be able to stay put. I like it because of it's dual purpose of being able to walk her and use it as a safety harness as well but the fit is dubious. The top adjusters also don't have anywhere to go and so once you make it smaller there is not where for that material to go it does not remain flush to the body as the pictures displays. I will continue using it and begin to tighten it a little more as I go along and she gets used to it. It was a good deal for the money also. I saw all the others and they were really expensive. I like the fact that there is a video about how to put on the harness and attach to the car. That was sent later via my Youtube. That was very thoughtful of them and informative.

I bought this harness while I was over seas. When I got home to meet my families new addition I was shocked how well it fit her. It also came with a lovely car restrain and I was so happy to not only feel safer with her, but that it was a great product sold all over the world. Its been almost a year, and it still is in perfect condition!

Buddy is an English Springer Spaniel that needs to be walked using a harness. I've had a difficult time finding a good fit. This Tru-Fit Harness is wonderful. It has plenty of adjustments, so getting a good fit was easy. I also like that it can double as a restraint in the car.
